Established by Huwei Sugar Factory (虎尾糖廠) in the Japanese colonial era, this procurement office on the eastern outskirts of Mailiao managed sugarcane cultivation in the area. Farmers would report to this office to sell their sugarcane and raw material would be loaded and transported to the factory by train. In the post-war era it was absorbed into the state-owned Taisugar Corporation and eventually abandoned as sugarcane cultivation in the area declined. Derelict for decades, it was colonized by Pyrostegia venusta, also known as flamevine, and creates a scene in early spring that became popular on social media. It is also more generally known as Zhendong Temple Flower House (麥寮鎮東宮炮仗花).
