Established around 1932 with a capacity of 950 as Sekai-kan (世界館). After the war it was renamed Dashijie Theater (大世界戲院). In 1966 seven children were trampled to death during an extremely overcrowded Lunar New Year film screening. It continued to operate for many years but was eventually demolished around 2000. There is now a KFC branch on site.
