This military dependents’ village was established on a plot of land originally requisitioned by the Imperial Japanese Navy from Louyuan (陋園), the estate of the Keelung Yan family (基隆顏家). A warehouse was built here during World War 2 but the site was in a dire state after Allied bombing and the eventual Japanese surrender of Taiwan. When the ROC government took control of Taiwan the land was seized and converted into housing for soldiers and their families in the tumultuous early post-war years. Decades later the entire village was rebuilt as a series of standard reinforced concrete apartment blocks now known as Jianguo Public Housing (建國國宅). This housing block also seems to have absorbed Yiren New Village (海軍義仁新村), which was presumably also in the vicinity.
