A Japanese-style wooden dormitory built during the colonial era to house faculty of Hualien Port Public School (花蓮港公學校), one of the oldest schools in Hualien County. The standalone residence survived the devastating 1951 Hualien earthquake that destroyed two-thirds of the school campus, suffering only interior damage before being repaired and returned to use. Now designated a historic building at 31 Mingli Road, it stands across from the present-day Mingli Elementary School (明禮國小) campus.
