Built in 1938 as staff dormitories for the district office (郡役所) of the newly formed Guanshan District, housing the district chief (郡守) along with the head of general affairs. They stood in the new administrative area of town. After the war the ROC government retained the buildings as dormitories for the Guanshan Township Office; only two single-storey wooden structures from the Japanese colonial era survive today, roofed in Japanese tile and clad in wooden weatherboard. Designated a historic building in 2009, the better-preserved of the pair underwent a government-funded restoration in early 2024.
