衛武營國家藝術文化中心

Designed by Francine Houben of the Dutch firm Mecanoo, this performing arts center in Fengshan takes its common name, Weiwuying (衛武營), from the army training camp the military decommissioned on this site in 1979. Drawing on the banyan trees of the former base, a single rippling roof covers an opera house, a concert hall, a playhouse, a recital hall, and an open plaza. It opened in 2018 on the edge of Weiwuying Metropolitan Park (衛武營都會公園) under the National Performing Arts Center (國家表演藝術中心).

I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
