An abandoned water park on the coast of Bali, New Taipei, near Taipei Port. The park opened in 1989 as Bali Amusement Park (八仙樂園), an investment by the Wan Hai Lines (萬海航運) shipping group, and was renamed Formosa Fun Coast in 2001. On 27 June 2015 a dust fire at a color powder party killed 15 people and injured more than 400. It was ordered closed for an investigation and never reopened. Demolition of structures encroaching on state land began in 2019, and in 2020 the Supreme Administrative Court upheld the closure order on appeal. The main pool where the fire occurred has since been removed and most of the water slides have been dismantled, leaving overgrown grounds with only vestigial remnants of the former park. Naturally the site has aroused the interest of the urban exploration community in Taiwan, and it regularly appears on social media as of the mid-2020s.
