One of many former Japanese colonial era police postings along the Batongguan Traversing Trail (八通關越道路) in Zhuoxi, Hualien. Established on a high ridgeline in 1920, it was built to guard the larger Dahun Police Garrison (大分駐在所) and became the site of Huabanuo Fort (華巴諾砲臺). A three-inch quick-firing gun built at the Putilov works in Imperial Russia, seized by Japan as a spoil of the Russo-Japanese War and hauled into these mountains to be turned against the Bunun still stands on site. It is one of only two stations on the trail whose wooden buildings still stand.
