Established in 1936 as Ōka-za (鶯歌座) or Ōka-gekijō (鶯歌劇場). It was originally intended for traditional performances but in the post-war era it was retrofitted to support film screenings with a capacity of around 400. In 1953 it was the site of a grenade attack by an ROC veteran, killing 4 audience members and injuring at least 10 others. Presumably it went out of business sometime after that. The original location was on Zhongzheng First Road (中正一路), somewhere close to Grandma’s Sushi (阿婆壽司), though it may have been as far north as the Tsannkuen 3C Yingge Store (燦坤3C鶯歌店).
