A former railway station on the Dodoka Line (哆哆咖線), an extension of the Alishan Forest Railway (阿里山森林鐵路), and timber loading yard for several other branch lines extending into the surrounding mountains. It is named for its position at the trailhead leading to Jade Mountain (玉山), known as Xingaoshan (新高山) in the Japanese colonial era.
