A night market along Liuhe 2nd Road (六合二路) in Xinxing, Kaohsiung, closed to traffic every evening since 1987. It grew out of food stalls that gathered on open ground in Dagangpu (大港埔) in the early 1950s around an outpatient clinic, the forerunner of Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital, and won official recognition in 1962. Tour groups from mainland China came to dominate its trade in the 2010s, leaving few of the original vendors, and the crowds thinned considerably after mainland arrivals fell sharply in 2016.
