A stained glass ceiling 30 meters across in the concourse of Formosa Boulevard Station (美麗島站), where the red and orange lines of the Kaohsiung MRT cross beneath a roundabout in Xinxing, Kaohsiung. Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata painted the design and the Derix glass studio in Germany spent four and a half years making it, dividing its 660 square meters into four quadrants on the themes of water, earth, light, and fire. The station, opened in 2008, is named for the Kaohsiung Incident (美麗島事件), a 1979 pro-democracy demonstration that unfolded at this junction, and lies a short walk from Liuhe Tourist Night Market.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
