Established in 1925 as Shinbutai-gekijō (新舞臺劇場), this was primarily a venue for traditional opera and performance. Screening films became more common in the 1950s, and the theater continued to prosper into the 1960s. It closed in 1973 due to strong competition from new theaters in town.
