Established in 1952, this notorious prison housed political dissidents during the White Terror until the end of martial law in 1987. It was part of several sites of injustice in the area including Ankang Detention Center and Ankeng Execution Grounds. It was later reorganized under the Ministry of Justice as the Xindian Correctional Center and is now primarily for drug rehabilitation. It was euphemistically known as Mingde Villa (明德山莊) during the White Terror.
