A stone monument erected in 1936 by Japanese Army officers to commemorate five soldiers who died in service, most of whom were from Chiba Prefecture. The inscription on the front was written by General Terauchi Hisaichi (寺內壽一), commander of the Taiwan Army. After World War 2 the monument was repurposed as a washboard by local women before being rediscovered during drainage works in 1995 and later relocated to this park. It was designated as a general antiquity by Yilan County in 2017.
