A roadside temple in the Dapingding (大坪頂) hills of Tongxiao, Miaoli, near the boundary with Yuanli. Previously enshrined here were eighteen Qing soldiers killed in the Tunxiao Incident (吞霄社事件) of 1699, an uprising of the Taokas (道卡斯) people of Tunxiao against an extortionate Han interpreter. The soldiers’ severed heads were found hanging from a tree at Lanzaikeng (濫仔坑) and buried together. After several relocations the remains came to rest here during the Tongzhi reign (1862–1874) and it became known as the Eighteen Heroes Temple (十八好漢廟). It was seemingly abandoned around 2023, its altar emptied and censer overturned beneath a signboard still soliciting donations for an expansion.
