Taoyuan Shinto Shrine (桃園神社) - Spectral Codex

Completed in 1938, this prefectural shrine (縣社) in Taoyuan City is the most well-preserved Shinto shrine in Taiwan. In the post-war era it was converted into a Chinese Martyrs’ Shrine (桃園忠烈祠) without demolishing most of the original structures. Of the five original torii only the fifth survives, the other four having stood along the approach path leading toward the city, and the present komainu are reproductions. It is now officially known as the Taoyuan Martyrs’ Shrine and Cultural Park (桃園忠烈祠暨神社文化園區). Formerly known as Tōen Jinja in the original Japanese.
