Houtong Jieshou Bridge Monument

A granite stele on an andesite base at the head of Jieshou Bridge in Houtong, Ruifang. It was erected in 1961 to thank Li Bainiang (李白娘), mother of the mining magnate Li Jianxing (李建興), for covering the balance of the cost of rebuilding the bridge in reinforced concrete. A plan to clear it away during bikeway construction along the Keelung River drew protests from local historians in 2010, and New Taipei City listed the monument as a historic building the following February. It can now be found next to the roadside near the bridgehead.
