Dàpí (大埤), formerly Dàpítóu (大埤頭), is a small agricultural township in southern Yunlin. It is named for a reservoir built during the Dutch colonial era, once known locally as the “red-haired pond” (紅毛埤). The township supplies roughly 80% of Taiwan’s pickled mustard greens, earning it the title “hometown of sauerkraut” (酸菜的故鄉).
