Established in 1910 as Qiaozitou Station (橋仔頭驛站). It was later rebuilt in a standard style during the Shōwa era, likely during the mid-1930s, and has since been connected to Kaohsiung Metro (高雄捷運). The old station house, recognized for its heritage value in 2004, is integrated into the design of the newer station and remains standing.
