Puli Martial Arts Hall (埔里武德殿) - Spectral Codex

Construction on this Japanese colonial era martial arts hall began in 1922 and was completed in 1928. It was briefly the local headquarters of the 27th Army of the Taiwan Democratic Alliance (台灣民主聯軍) during the tumult of the 228 Incident. Not long thereafter it was either converted for use as barracks or simply destroyed. The township office was built here in 1960, meaning it was certainly gone by that point. It was also known as Noko Martial Arts Hall (能高武德殿). Two stone lions from the martial arts hall were salvaged and now reside at Xingling Temple (醒靈寺). The hall was also immortalized in the song Defenders of Bú-Tik Palace (暮沈武德殿) by Taiwanese metal band Chthonic.
