A temple in Nanzi dedicated to three wangye surnamed Zhang (張), Zhu (朱), and Liu (劉), who according to the temple’s own account were Qing dynasty officers killed defending the east gate of the settlement against invaders. Residents formed an association in the 1950s to venerate them as Dongmengong (東門公) at a small shrine near the junction of Xingnan Road and Yueyang Road, which moved to the present site in 1963 when the road was widened. The original shrine was demolished in 2006 and replaced by the present temple on the same site.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
