A wooden auditorium on the grounds of Jingliao Elementary School (菁寮國小), the oldest school in Houbi, established in 1911 as Jingliao Public School (菁寮公學校). The auditorium itself was built in 1951 as a brick-and-timber structure in a Japanese architectural style and bears the name Zhongzheng Hall (中正堂). The heritage designation also covers a 1956 wooden office building and the washed-stone base of a 1931 Japanese colonial era flagpole whose iron pole was cut down during the war for use as munitions material.
