The hills of northern Guanxi are covered with soil most suitable for brick manufacturing. In the 1960s several companies operated kilns in this area, Pacific (太平洋), Jianfu (建富), and Sanhe (三合) among them. All these kilns were abandoned decades ago and left to the elements but several remain intact, albeit in extremely dilapidated condition. Sorting out which of the three remaining chimneys and accompanying kilns are associated with which company is uncertain, but their locations are obvious once in the vicinity. As of 2024 there is renewed interest in conserving the site as a heritage property.
