One of 35 villages built for Dachen Islands residents after their retreat to Taiwan in 1955. Initially home to 220 households and 807 residents, most employed as fishermen. Unfortunately the local area is prone to flooding as land subsidence is extreme in this part of coastal Pingtung, and most former residents have emigrated to other parts of the country.
