This area was once the site of Gyunikuzaki, an oilfield dating back to the Japanese colonial era in the hills of Dongshan, Tainan. An entire settlement was constructed for laborers and their families, and operations continued after the war, when it was administered as part of Xinying Oilfield (新營礦場). The site was tapped out by the 1980s and it was eventually demolished, almost without any trace at all.
