A 62-meter tower built on the site of the former Chiayi Shinto Shrine, many of the remnants of which were destroyed by fire in 1994. Named after a Taiwanese Plains Indigenous sun-shooting myth, its design evokes an Alishan sacred tree split by a 40-meter “ray of sky” containing a bronze relief of the legend. The base houses the rebuilt Martyrs’ Shrine while the upper floors offer panoramic views of the city and mountains.
