A public aquarium and marine research museum on the coast below Guishan (龜山) in Checheng, Pingtung, at the northwestern corner of Kenting National Park (墾丁國家公園). It was one of two national marine museums planned in the 1980s, alongside the National Museum of Marine Science and Technology in Keelung, and opened in 2000 with its aquarium run by a private operator, a model Keelung later copied. Its 96 hectare grounds hold three exhibition halls added between 2000 and 2006, the second of which, Coral Kingdom (珊瑚王國館), contains an 82.5 meter undersea tunnel that was once the longest in Asia.

I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
