An old compound in the Shulingtou (樹林頭) settlement of Budai known locally as Wukui Mansion (武魁古厝). The Zhuang family’s founding ancestor, Zhuang Renpu (莊仁樸), was a Qing dynasty military official from Jinjiang, Fujian, who settled here after retiring and funded the construction of irrigation channels drawing water from the Bazhang River (八掌溪). Two later generations produced military juren degree holders in 1807 and 1822; a pair of flagpole stands (旗杆座) for examination banners and two Wukui (武魁) plaques survive inside the compound. The present appearance dates to renovations by the seventh-generation Zhuang Kuan (莊寬), who served as Budai township head during the Japanese colonial era.
