Thewet Theater is an obscure cinema on the northern side of the old downtown core of Bangkok. Not much is known about it but there’s a decent chance it dates back to the 1950s. It was already long out of business and gutted by 2010. By the time I visited in 2018 there was no obvious way to access the remains of the theater hall. It was also known as Chaloem Thewet Theater (โรงภาพยนตร์เฉลิมเทเวศร์).
I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
