A small temple in the Gangkou (港口) area of Anding enshrining seven Japanese airmen as the Seven Marshals (七元帥), killed when their plane crashed and burned at Xinwen Farm (新塭農場) in 1938. Villagers held that the Crown Prince deity (太子爺) of nearby Ci’an Temple (慈安宮) had steered the aircraft away from the village before it fell, and buried the dead together on the spot. Years later farm labourers were said to be possessed by the spirits, speaking fluent Japanese and singing Japanese songs, until the village deity negotiated with them and directed the building of a shrine at the crash site.
