The stone pedestal of the shrine, which would have supported a wooden structure back in the day.
Hidden in a sublime bamboo grove is a former Shinto shrine above the Alishan railway stopover of Fenqihu (奮起湖), then known as Funkikō in Japanese. The stone pedestal remains, as does some of the stonework along the path, but much of the rest has been renovated into a hiking trail. That being said, the forest setting gives this place a rather special quality, and it is certainly worth visiting.
The former shrine is situated in a mixed bamboo and conifer grove.
