Mingdu Theater

A golden age theater located at the head of Huilai Street (惠來街) in Yuanlin. It was a single screen theater with a capacity of approximately 300 to 350 operating from the 1950s into the 1980s. Earlier on it was known for traditional opera and glove puppetry, only shifting to screening films later on. As with much of the rest of the industry this theater also showed adult films in its later years. It was demolished or otherwise renovated into the Yuanfeng Department Store (源豐超市), which has also vanished into history. It was previously known as one of the four oldest theaters in Yuanlin.
