Established in 1980, ostensibly to provide more modern facilities for Rukai Indigenous people who had been living deeper in the mountains. The entire settlement was destroyed by floodwaters from Typhoon Morakot in 2009 (八八水災), and the survivors were again relocated. Nothing remains of this settlement nowadays except for perhaps a church that had been built on high ground.
