One of Taiwan’s more well-known haunted houses. It doesn’t look like much from the outside, nor does it seem to be completely abandoned. According to legend, the owner borrowed money from his lover, a dancer, and later refused to marry her, which resulted in the woman hanging herself in the bedroom of the villa. Many ghost stories reference the sight of a woman in red crying out across the rice paddies. Watch out for guard dogs!
The ghost house from a distance. The sign draped from an upper balcony advertises pulleys.
A closer look at the supposedly haunted villa.
An ornate metal gate certainly gives off a certain kind of aura.
Amusingly, a betel nut shop operated next to this haunted property at some point.
I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
