Dali Tree Temple (大里杙樹王公廟) - Spectral Codex
大里杙樹王公廟

A sacred tree and associated temple (大里杙嘉慶君護衛將軍廟) related to the mythical inspection tour of the Jiaqing Emperor (嘉慶帝). According to legend the emperor was passing this tree when he was set upon by bandits. A mysterious figure descended from the tree and fended them off before disappearing again. Folk worship of the tree began sometime later, and it was a popular site for divining lottery numbers (大家樂) during the 1980s.
