Former site of a hōanden (奉安殿) and taima hōsaiden (大麻奉齋殿), a hall for enshrining the sacred talisman of Ise Grand Shrine, at Taitō Public School (台東公學校), founded in 1905 as one of the oldest elementary institutions in Taitung Prefecture. The school primarily served Han Taiwanese students and had an enrollment of around 600 by the 1930s. In 1941 it was renamed Taitō Takara National School (臺東寶國民學校) under the unified school system. The campus is now National Taitung University Laboratory Elementary School (國立臺東大學附設實驗國民小學).
