Last week while roaming around West District, Taichung, I made a quick visit to Shěnjì New Village (審計新村), a renovated dormitory complex for tax officials enmeshed in the urban of Taichung. Rather than the usual bungalows this village consists of almost American-style homes, most of them still in surprisingly good condition. A set of vintage star-glass windows caught my eye on the upper levels.
