Established in 1962, this was one of several recreational facilities constructed for use by the US Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) in Taiwan during the Cold War. It was officially known as the Taichung FASD Hostel, and sometimes referred to as the Officers’ Compound. It had been abandoned for many years and its future remained uncertain despite civic groups organizing to preserve the site. Finally it was razed to the ground around 2023.
