Designed by architect Zhu Zuming (朱祖明) and built in 1977 on the site of Taichung Railway Hotel (台中鐵路大飯店). It was originally home to Caishen Department Store (財神百貨), but this closed in 1996. Jwu Faang Department Store (竹舫百貨), the name by which this building is now generally known, moved in shortly thereafter, but also went out of business.
