A former coal mine in the Nanshan Village (南山里) area of Pingxi near Dahua Station (大華車站), part of Taiyang Mining’s (臺陽鑛業) extensive Shidi coal field holdings since the Japanese era. Lin Youcai (林有財) leased the mining rights from Taiyang and later established Taihua Coal Mine Company (太華煤礦公司) to operate it. The mine portal survives by the creek, sealed with red brick, with rusty orange water still flowing out. Supporting structures including the electrical machine room and equipment warehouse remain on the opposite bank. The mine operated from 1949 to 1990, producing 883,139 tonnes over 40 years.
