Green Island White Terror Memorial Park

A former political prison complex on Green Island (綠島) now preserved as a memorial park under the National Human Rights Museum. The site encompasses the 1950s New Life Correction Center (新生訓導處), where over a thousand political prisoners were detained during the White Terror period, and the 1970s Oasis Villa (綠洲山莊), a high-walled prison built after the 1970 Taiyuan Incident to consolidate political prisoners from across Taiwan. Following the end of martial law in 1987 the facilities were decommissioned and gradually converted into exhibition spaces; the human rights monument, inscribed with the names of White Terror victims, was unveiled in 1999. The park was registered as a cultural landscape in 2014.
