Wushantou Guesthouse

A neglected building on Bantian Island (辯天島), a peninsula in the middle of Wushantou Reservoir (烏山頭水庫). Completed in 1979 at the direction of Presidential Security Bureau chief Ma Jizhuang (馬紀壯), it is commonly listed among the Chiang family guesthouses, but neither Chiang Kai-shek nor Chiang Ching-kuo ever actually stayed here. The Chianan Irrigation Association (嘉南農田水利會), which manages the reservoir, internally refers to the building as the “woodland cabin” (林間木屋). The island remains closed to the public and accessible only by official boat, lending the site an enduring sense of mystery.
