Completed in 1939 or 1940 with conscripted labor from around the township. It was classified as an unranked (無格社) Shinto shrine. It is one of the more well-preserved Shinto shrines in Yunlin County; two of the four original torii remain standing along with several stone lanterns and a pair of komainu (狛犬) outside what is now a Jigong temple (濟公堂) at the top of the hill. It was known as Rinnai-jinja in Japanese times.
I am a web application developer, photojournalist, urban explorer, and history enthusiast passionate about the open web and documenting my experiences on this planet. This project was founded in the early 2010s and has evolved into a sort of personal Wikipedia of places that interest me (and often the photographs I’ve taken there). I’m originally from Toronto, Canada, but spend most of my time residing in Taiwan.
