Established in 1903 as the second modern leisure park in Taiwan. It had an impressive scope, stretching from Xiaoyi Road (孝一路) to Xiaosi Road (孝四路) east to west, and from Zhongsan Road (忠三路) to Xiding River (西定河) north to south. After the war it became a refugee camp with hundreds of ad hoc shelters constructed in almost every available space. Early into the post-war era the entire park was rezoned for commercial and residential use and converted into more modern buildings over subsequent decades. The only relic of the park is in the name of the neighborhood and Gongyuan Road (公園路) to the northwest.
