Originally completed around 1907, this railway tunnel suffered extensive damage during the 1935 Hsinchu-Taichung Earthquake, and was later repaired to exacting standards complete with reinforced concrete and steel reinforcements. Abolished in 1998 but presumably still walkable, with easy access from the north entrance.
