Established as Shinshōka-za (新彰化座) in 1930 and renamed Changhua Theater after the war. This was a large, impressive structure located at the foot of Baguashan, just east of the Changhua Martial Arts Hall (彰化武德殿). It has no relation to the modern Changhua Theater (彰化大戲院) which adopted the name after this one closed.
