This temple was originally a small ossuary located near the West Gate of Changhua City for the remains of those who perished in the Battle of Baguashan. In 1968 the government embarked upon a road widening project and local businessman Lin Xiling (林錫鈴) raised money to build the temple now on this site. Soon thereafter it flourished as a venue for traditional opera and theater, performances intended for the spirits of the anti-Japanese resistance martyrs interred here. After Lin’s passing in 1982 a bronze bust was erected in his honor.
