Completed in 1940, this reinforced concrete structure would have housed the Japanese Imperial rescript on education and portraits of the emperor and empress. It was replaced by a state of Sun Yat-sen after the war, but the campus was so heavily disrupted by the 921 Earthquake that the statue was replaced by one of Confucius.
