Hardly anything would indicate this was an early post-war theater.
An early post-war theater established in 1945 in Zhunan, Miaoli. It is not a large structure; perhaps it would have accommodated 300 or 400 audience members at its peak. While its later history is unclear, the original wood-paneled structure still exists as a branch of Carrefour Market as of the mid-2020s. Apparently nothing remains of the former theater’s equipment nor projection room, at least according to an employee in 2024.
A closer look reveals some of the original red-brick façade behind the sheet metal sign.
From this oblique angle another sliver of the original cinema is visible at right.
This theater has a centrally vaulted roof with two peaked additions running along the length of the building on either side.
A glimpse of what might be original wood cladding along the right side of the building.
The view from the front of the theater beneath the awning. None of this looks original to the theater.
The peaked extension on the left side of the building.
